Pop Corner: Christmas with Kylie or a pyjama party with Adele?

TRACK OF THE WEEK
Every Day's Like Christmas by Kylie Minogue
Though we love Christmas, we do have some quality controls in place when it comes to Christmas pop tunes. Luckily, this passes all the tests. It's got a romantic message, but it's not mushy. It feels gently festive but doesn't overdose on the sleigh bells. This is down to the writer (hiya Coldplay's Chris Martin!) but also Kylie's restraint.

Hero of the week is Nicki Minaj, who told Redbull.com that she still works super-hard on her verses. "Even now, I still rewrite verses five and six and seven and eight and nine and 10 times. Because I want it to be perfect. Don't rest on our laurels. Keep trying, as if it's your first day on the job."

Lady Gaga told Billboard that she's stoked about turning 30 next year. "Why is it that we're disposing of people once they pass that mark? It's suddenly, 'You're an old woman.' I'm not f***ing old. I'm more sexual and powerful and intelligent and on my shit than I've ever been."

Zero of the week is touring, Adele told the New York Times. "Performing to that many people for every night, for that long, I find something very lonely about it. Which sounds weird, but you leave on your own. You don't go home and, like, share a bed with 20,000 people and have a little pyjama party and watch movies."
