TRACK OF THE WEEK
McBusted –
Air Guitar
This track is exactly what you’d expect from a band comprising McFly and two-thirds of Busted. Shouty lyrics about growing up, a twiddly guitar hook and adequate space for a leap in the air on stage. Marvellous.
HERO OF THE WEEK
Taylor Swift for taking control of her destiny. Swifty took preventative measures to make sure she was never labelled a wild child, she told Vogue. "I was completely sober until I was 21! Because I knew other people can make partying look cute and edgy but, if I did, people were going to twist it into this tragic America's-sweetheart-goes-off-the-rails-and-loses-her-mind thing." She went on: "Being firm and having the ability to say no, and not feel guilty about it afterwards, is really important in any aspect of your life. Even if it's when you're 16 years old and everyone at the party is wasted and you don't really feel comfortable about it."
ZERO OF THE WEEK
Sam Smith, who cancelled a post-show meet-and-greet claiming he was unwell, only to post a picture of himself at a karaoke bar hours later. Smith tried to clear it up: "What happened was, first of all I'm completely stupid, but also what I want to clear up is I meet my fans every night. The reason why I couldn't meet the fans was because there wasn't enough security outside. So I couldn't go out and meet them. Also, I am ill." Ok, sure.
UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE WEEK
Alicia Keys, who explained that working with Madonna was "casual and cool". Keys told Vibe magazine that Madonna's people asked her, "'maybe you can play some piano on this thing'. And I was like, 'Alright. I'll try. If you hate it, you can take it off.'" Sounds about right.
