We couldn't believe our ears when a new Gwen Stefani track appeared online this weekend. Idiosyncratic is the right word to use here, in the hands of anyone else the slow-mo ska of Baby Don't Lie would sound a right mess, but Gwen's soulful vocals carry the track. "If we ever give up we're gonna die, look me in the eye, baby don't lie," she pouts, before spending the middle-eight shrieking "Am I getting hotter?" We wouldn't expect anything less.

Taylor Swift for dishing out some advice we can all get behind. Pal Selena Gomez told a US chat show that Taylor was “actually at my house the other day and I was talking about relationships and business, and she looked at me. . . she’s so supportive. . . and said, ‘Selena, if you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.’ She thinks I should be around people who will challenge me and I want to surround myself with those people. I repeat that to myself now.” That’s good advice, whoever you are.

Lady Gaga's former team When Gaga was unwell, and had to have a hip operation, her colleagues were nowhere to be seen. Gaga told Stern magazine: "I no longer saw any light. Anywhere. The past few years have been really dark. I had to have an operation and 21 of my concerts were cancelled. Nobody from my team was there for me – not through my operation and not while I was recovering." She went on: "I lay there in my hospital bed and felt like a cow. I'd been giving milk this whole time and now that I was ill and could no longer be milked, they said, 'Give us a call when the cow is better'." Onwards and upwards, Gaga.
