This gifted South African singer was the winner of the Veronica Dunne Singing Competition in 2010, and has gone on to develop her career with the Stuttgart Opera and the Young Artists Programme in Covent Garden.

Brought up in poor circumstances in the townships near Cape Town, she did not have formal music training until she reached adulthood. From this, her first disc, it is clear that she is a formidable singing talent.

Her voice is sensuous, rich and lustrous – particularly in the middle and lower range but well supported in all registers – and she sings the Mozart and Puccini arias with a memorable beauty of tone.

The balance of the recital consists of popular songs, mostly from her native South Africa, sung with sensitivity and style. This young singer should have a great future.
