IT’LL BE maritime to party when the Tall Ships Festival sails into Dublin next month from August 23rd-26th and unloads its cargo – ie an impressive entertainment line-up. It’s the first time in 14 years that the Tall Ships event has returned to the capital, and a huge number of Irish artists will perform free daytime (noon-10pm) gigs on George’s Dock in the IFSC district.

On Thursday 23rd, Cathy Davey will play the Bulmers Live main stage, in addition to Jerry Fish, Duke Special, Foy Vance, Scullion and more. Northern Irish rockers Ash will headline on Friday 24th, with the likes of Ryan Sheridan, Mark Geary, The Lost Brothers, The Minutes, Funeral Suits and This Club joining them.

The Undertones play the same stage on the 25th, with support from Therapy?, The Frank Walters, Delorentos and more. The Dublin Gospel Choir will perform on Sunday 26th between 11am and 1pm as the ships depart Dublin.

“It’s going to be a great weekend and I’m delighted to be a part of it,” Monaghan man Ryan Sheridan told The Ticket. All events are free of charge and there will be various street performers, food markets, fun fairs and a family programme during the four-day festival, too.
