It takes time to learn to fly solo. For years Aeroplane featured two men at the helm, but the depature of Stephen Fasano before the release of their debut album left Italian-Belgian DJ and producer Vito De Luca as the sole pilot. De Luca was responsible for most of the work on that album (We Can’t Fly), a set of tracks that pulled and pushed in many different directions. It might even have added a few extra twists and turns had De Luca been successful in his attempts to recruit Talk Talk’s Mark Hollis and Pink Floyd’s Dave Gilmour as guests.
Between remixes (MGMT, Grace Jones, Green Velvet and Friendly Fires are the most celebrated ones) and festival shows, De Luca (pictured) has proven to be an able and expert guide when it comes to soulful, emotional, deep Balearic and Italo-disco with a twist. Support for his Dublin debut from Richard Beard.
