While it will probably not turn out to be as infamous as Pop Will Eat Itself’s performance on the show all those years ago, Beardyman’s
Late Late Show
appearance in January was still hugely incongruous.
The London beatboxer and electronic producer is more accustomed to gracing subterranean rooms and festivals such as Sonar than the set of Ireland’s most-watched TV show, yet this may be about to change. After all, the UK beatbox champion’s Kitchen Diaries videos became a YouTube hit and landed him on the Ellen DeGeneres show in the US (no Crystal Swing gags, please).
This Open Sauce tour sees Beardyman asking the audience to compile the setlist via Twitter and Facebook. This could mean, he realises, “Marmite-hip-hop-ragga-step ” or “Michael Jackson and Arnold Schwarzenegger in a techno rave-up”, but he’s prepared for it.
Support from Kormac’s Big Band, plugging their fine Word Play debut album.
