There ain't no live show like a Dan Deacon live show. The Baltimore musician, producer and Wham City arts collective founder has enthralled Irish audiences with shows that turn venues into giant, giddy playgrounds. But there's a serious musician at work here beyond the crowd-pleasing showmanship. Deacon's releases over the past couple of years, with albums such as Bromstand Spiderman of the Rings, highlight an innovator with considerable smarts when it comes to experimental pop noise and electronic slam-dunks.
Deacon currently has a ream of projects on his to-do list, from completing a Dan Deacon Ensemble album to scoring Francis Coppola's Twixt Nowand Sunrisefilm. So tonight may be an opportunity to hear some samples from those works in progress, as well as past favourites.
