Meet the busiest Mau5 in the electronic music business. Joel Zimmerman is the former web developer from Niagara Falls whose banging tracks, thrilling live shows and penchant for sporting a giant, illuminated mouse head have ensured he’s become one of the new dance scene’s leading lights.
The Canuck has had a winning run of tracks and albums since Faxing Berlin first brought his mix of trance and house to everyone’s attention five years ago, but it’s the scale of Zimmerman’s live show that have caused his following grow and grow. Yes, that trademark mouse head is also a factor (every act needs a trademark), but that alone doesn’t account for more and more sellout shows in bigger and bigger venues.
As long as Zimmerman continues to produce storming tracks such as Some Chords and Sofi Needs a Ladder, the masses will continue to flock to his Maustrap.
