Brooklyn’s Grizzly Bear are not about being a pumped-up, four-to-the-floor party band. Rather, they are Radiohead- approved cosmic folkies, three self-confessed jazz nerds – vocalist Daniel Rossen, drummer Chris Bear, and bassist Chris Taylor – and a smart songwriter (Ed Droste).

Between them they have cast their creative net wide enough to catch the interest of fans of (among others) Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver, without falling prey to the achingly hip quotient factor that such bands often suffer from.

It really is all about the music with this lot. Their latest album, Veckatimest(named after a small island off Massachusetts), is the most gorgeous chamber pop thing you'll hear this year – folk songs you thought you'd never hear again, mixed with sophisticated if low-key harmonies. So no pumping, jumping and bouncing, if you don't mind; this is catchy trance music for pop fans.
