Twisted Pepper, Dublin Tomorrow 12/10 01-8734800
When it comes to influential techno clubs, Berlin’s Berghain is currently the one by which all others are measured. Located in a former power plant, Berghain is one of the places where you’ll find Marcel Dettmann (below) at work, mixing and matching various shades of techno’s robust transglobal past to produce a hint of where the sound might well be heading.
As a producer, remixer (Fever Ray, Junior Boys, Modeselektor and Scuba have benefited from his work) and artist (check out his releases for Berghain’s in-house label, Ostgut Ton or his own MDR), Dettmann has demonstrated a winning ability to craft mesmerising metal machine music. He will be joined in the basement by Pogo grand fromage Barry Redsetta and Dave O’Sullivan. The Dead Chickens Club are at large in the basement, and there’s a shoebox disco in the Box.
