Button Factory, Dublin Tonight 11pm €15 01-6709202
When it comes to ambassadors for Irish music, you don’t see a lot in the despatches about John O’Callaghan (below). Of course, it’s not as if he needs handouts from Culture Ireland to do his thing, but it would be worth recognising the fact that the Navan man has been key to putting Ireland on the trance trade map.
There’s a very busy DJ diary: O’Callaghan heads from here to eastern Europe to the US and South America regularly. Then, there’s O’Callaghan the producer, whose sound has gained him many fans and admirers around the world.
Between last year’s Unfold album and big dancefloor- fillers such as Find Yourself and Big Sky, O’Callaghan’s trademark trance comes with big energy and lush, shimmering, melodic appeal.
Support tonight from Super8 Tab, Manuel Le Saux, Ruben De Ronde and Paul Webster.
