Róisín has her cake and eats it

Galway’s most famous music venue the Róisín Dubh celebrates its seventh birthday tomorrow with a free gig

Galway’s most famous music venue the Róisín Dubh celebrates its seventh birthday tomorrow with a free gig. The pub came under new management in 2004 and has seen many high-profile acts pass through its doors.

Tomorrow's gig will be headlined by Jape who has played the venue many times. He will be joined by Squarehead, Rural Savage, other bands and a number of guest DJs, while there'll be comedy from Robbie Bonham.

There will also be a barbecue, free drinks and "traditional hi-jinks in our inimitable style", according to the venue's booker Gugai.

"We've come a long way since we re-opened the doors back in June 2004," he said. "It's been a gradual process involving much tweaking and many alterations, but I think that's something that'll never change – we'll always be looking for ways to improve the venue and provide a better service to our artists and customers."
