RTÉ’s annual Big Music Week will take place from Monday to Sunday. The national broadcaster has a number of music-related specials taking place across radio, television and online, including the awarding of the €20,000 Breakthrough Bursary at a live concert on Thursday, which will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 on October 16th.
Live music will take precedence on RTÉ's various radio stations during the week, with a number of high-profile concerts and in-studio performances. The Nighthawks arts collective will curate an evening of live music featuring Irish acts including Little Green Cars, Windings, Jinx Lennon, jazz singer Emelie Conway and more on Thursday's Arena arts show. Ronan Collins will host a live concert from the RTÉ Concert Orchestra with Neil Hannon, Aslan and more on Tuesday, while his show on Friday will feature a conversation with Waterboys frontman Mike Scott.
The search for Ireland's most talented buskers will be broadcast live on Mooney from Grafton Street on Wednesday, while Sunday's South Wind Blows will feature a live concert from St James's Church in Dingle.
There will be numerous other specials on 2FM, Lyric FM, Raidió na Gaeltachta and digital arm 2XM during the week. rte.ie/music.
