Genre: Pop
Label: Glassnote

There has always been a gloomy beauty about Ryan Lott's work and this darkly-lit electronic beauty is at the heart of Bones, which exists in the push-and-pull worlds of restraint and excess.

There is frenetic production on songs such as Change is Everything, whereas You Don't Know Me is glitchier and heavier.

This Time's echoey Latin-infused sound complements the yearning of the female choir, while the chants of "Now I want to be free" on Now I Want help it sound like a soul classic listened to underwater.

The meandering nature of the work adds to the dreamy atmosphere, as on I am the Others or Your Day Will Come.

The record benefits from the collaboration with guitarist Rafiq Bhatia and drummer Ian Chang, who bring their musicianship to Son Lux’s ability to make technology sing.
