For those who know The Cadillac Three, it will come as no surprise that the southern rockers cut their teeth in Nashville clubs and country music bars.
On their second album, the trio’s lyrical palette doesn’t stretch much further than drinking (whiskey is mentioned in practically every song), partying and women, but it’s all done with a smirk-inducing tongue-in-cheek audacity.
Yet these are also strong songs, led by Jaren Johnson's potent, brawny twang, which barrels its way through heavy rock riffs (the title track, the rip-roaring Slide and the deep, bustling groove of The South) and lighthearted, playful tunes alike (Ship Faced, Buzzin') with aplomb.
As an album, Bury Me in My Boots is a little one-dimensional, but it also has an infectious energy that prevents things from becoming tiresome.
