With some bands you just have wonder why they're not better known. These Dubliners are one of them. After 27 years, five albums and assorted singles and EPs, you have a chance to catch up: The Harvest Ministers have finally released an anthology on vinyl (with 13 tracks) and download (with five extra songs). The brilliant opener, You Do My World the World of Good, has ostensibly upbeat lyrics wedded to melancholy music; If It Kills Me and It Will does the opposite – bleak words and a 1970s soul-pop melody. Six O'Clock Is Rosary and A River Wedding are lost should-have-been-hits classics. Harvest Ministers mainstay Will Merriman is a gifted songwriter, but if you know the band then you already know that. If not, now is the perfect time to find out. theharvestministers.bandcamp.com
