Artist: Toy
Genre: Alternative

Less than two years ago, London-based Toy released their self-titled debut, and what a joy it was: noise-melody delivered in a dayglo smear of psychedelia and committed krautrock. Join the Dots is more of the same, except better, even more focused and far more elegantly executed. There seems to be a lot going on: layers, effects and overdubs are all swooshed, swished, swathed and swirled, as if recording studios were going out of fashion. But underneath it all is the kind of music that will never disappear. Channelling Syd Barrett's is-it-a-dream-or-a-nightmare scenarios, a guitar rush that assuredly references The Stooges, and motorik rhythms snatched from Harmonia and Cluster, tracks such as You Won't Be the Same, To a Death Unknown, Endlessly, It's Been so Long and Frozen Atmosphere gel to form a unified sense of a band that knows exactly what it's about. toy-band.com
