Charli shows pop sensibility for a family-friendly track

TRACK OF THE WEEK:

London Queen by Charli XCX. While there are other Sucker (which is finally out at the end of January) tracks about online (we'd recommend the Siouxsie-influenced Body of My Own), London Queen is perhaps the most family-friendly. It takes Charli's pop sensibility and mixes it with enough brash oi to make it the kind of thing you want to shout along to, standing on the car's back seat with your head poking out of the sunroof, not caring what anyone else thinks.

Zero of the week

is Mark Ronson's stomach. He told the Guardian that the stress of coming up with a guitar part for Uptown Funk was almost too much. "We did 45 takes of it and I just couldn't get it, it sounded like horrible bullshit, so we went to lunch, walked down to a restaurant. Everyone was saying: 'Dude, what's wrong with you? You've gone totally white.' Because I was going on pretending everything was just fine; you don't want to admit that you're just not there, you're not where you want to be. And I went to the toilet and just . . . fainted. I threw up, and fainted. They had to come and carry me out of the toilet."

Hero of the week

is Noel Gallagher, for proving that all dads are alike. His daughter told Grazia that she's a fan of Harry Styles, and had explained as much to her dad. "Harry seems really nice. I was in a cafe and Harry came in. I'd been joking that I'd probably wet myself if 1D walked in." And then Noel did what dads do best. He embarrassed her. "So my dad started kicking me under the table and shouted, 'Are you going to wet yourself now?' I literally died." Don't look back in anger, love.

No regrets

Taylor Swift has no regrets about pulling her music from Spotify. She told the Hollywood Reporter "With as many ways as artists are personalising their musical distribution, it didn't occur to me that this would be anything that anyone would talk about." She continued, "but I could never have expected so many text messages, emails and phone calls from artists, writers and producers saying thank you".
