GREEN DAY Bullet in a Bible Reprise ****
This time two years ago, US punk band Green Day were something of a joke. The low-slung guitars, the kohl-eyes, the dyed black hair, the songs about silly teenage things - all these and more placed the band into a corner from which it seemed they could not escape. And then last year the band released American Idiot, a punk concept album, no less, about living in the US under a government that cared more for glory than anything else. This very fine DVD captures the band over two days at Milton Keynes National Bowl - their biggest gigs to date - as they celebrate the success of the record that radically altered their fortunes. Filmed by long-favoured Green Day video director Samuel Bayer, the performances are hot to the touch and encapsulate the dynamics of live footage mixed with sub-Clash poses. Extras in this quality DVD package include band and fan interviews. www.greenday.com
