SPIDER-MAN 3 ***

Directed by Sam Raimi. Starring Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard 12 cert

Not as bad as many reviews suggested, but still somewhat disappointing, the third film in the franchise tries to pack far too much into one bulky package. With three villains jostling for space with Howard's supernumerary love interest, no character has any space to breathe. The film is available in a packed 2-disc edition and as part of a nice box set containing the entire trilogy. DONALD CLARKE
