Boy meets girl, but he's a vampire in Hardwicke's stylish movie of the Stephenie Meyer novel. Pattinson and Stewart are ideally cast in a romance grounded in palpable desire and affecting intimacy, which is necessarily chaste but wholly seductive. The many extras on the two-disc DVD include deleted and extended scenes, a feature on the film's music, and a conversation with Meyer. MICHAEL DWYER

The animals from the first animated smash land in an African game reserve. The backgrounds are rather beautiful, the anarchic penguins are still very funny and most of the voicework passes muster. But a pall of laziness hangs over the enterprise like suffocating smog. DONALD CLARKE
