IRELAND in Europe, an international visual arts event organised by the Sculptor's Society of Ireland with Catalyst, Arts (Belfast), Foundation 3.14 (Norway) and-Artist in Viaggio (Italy), was launched yesterday. The event will include a major international exhibition, which will take place in the Iveagh Gardens and other city centre outdoor sites.

The brief includes an exploration of Ireland's relationship with Europe. Irish artists will he chosen on the basis of open submission. The closing date for submissions is January 17th, 1997, and application forms are available from the Sculptor's Society of Ireland at 119 Capel Street, Dublin 1, (phone: 01-8722296). The participants from other European countries will be chosen, one by one, by the successful Irish applicants.
