Busy Cillian Murphy is set to play Richard Neville, the Australian author of the satirical counter- culture magazine Oz, which in 1971 was the subject of the longest obscenity trial in English legal history.
The movie, Hippie Hippie Shake, has been adapted by Billy Elliott screenwriter Lee Hall from Neville's memoir, and it will be directed by Beeban Kidron, whose most recent film was Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. Joining Murphy in the cast are Sienna Miller, Max Minghella and Emma Booth. Murphy and Miller are also working together on The Edge of Love, which also stars Matthew Rhys (as Dylan Thomas) and Keira Knightley, and starts shooting this week.
Murphy will be seen next in a romantic comedy, Watching the Detectives (pictured above), which had its world premiere at New York's Tribeca Film Festival last week. He plays a video store manager seduced by a customer (Lucy Liu).
