Dublin band Electric Penguins have been granted a temporary High Court injunction against a former member.
The electronica band released their debut album Goodbye from the Electric Penguinsin 2006, earning a Meteor Award nomination for Hope for 2007in the process. Sean Quinn departed in 2008 and subsequently asked that all of his contributions to their second album IIbe removed, which they complied with, and also that the band change their name, which they refused to do.
Remaining members Paul Murphy and Mark Cummins alleged that Quinn has been tarnishing the band's reputation, claiming that they are responsible for copyright theft and misuse of the Electric Penguins name. The duo scored the theme tune for the Channel 4 series Sounds from the Citiesearlier this year, but claimed that Quinn's interference almost cost them the deal.
Cummins and Murphy declined to comment further on the matter.
