The rocker from New Jersey is back in the RDS, a year after selling out the same venue, and with six million sales of his latest album, Crush, under his cowboy belt. In recent years, the boy Bongiovi has had acting aspirations, starring in last year's blockbuster, U-571, but he's at his best when he's rockin' onstage with his guitar-totin' sidekick, Richie Sambora.

Get your hoodie and baggy shorts on - America's biggest nu-metal band is making its first Irish appearance, and fans will be rollin', rollin', rollin' their way up to Punchestown for a dose of loud guitars and raucous raps. Support is by Everlast and Godsmack.

The Eagles

Stormont Castle - June 29th

RDS - June 30th

1890-925100

www.ticketmaster.ie

Mammy! Mammy! Wake Up! The Eagles are landing on our shores for yet another money-spinning reunion, doing it again for all the denim-clad mums and dads. Happy slaves of AOR will flock to the RDS and Stormont Castle to sing along with such peaceful, easy tunes as Lyin' Eyes, Desperado, Take It Easy and Hotel California. I'll be already gone.

Robbie Williams

Lansdowne Road, Dublin - June 6th & 7th

1890-925100

www.ticketmaster.ie

He's still the UK's biggest male star, popular enough over here to fill up two nights at Lansdowne Road.

Bob Dylan

Nowlan Park, Kilkenny - July 15th

1890-925100

www.ticketmaster.ie

His Royal Bobness returns to these shores for an outdoor gig as part of the Smithwicks Kilkenny Festival. Mr Zimmerman has been beset by health problems of late, but - as his legendary show in Vicar St last year proves - he's still capable of creating magic. Support is by Aimee Mann with more acts to be announced.

David Gray

Smithfield - July 19th/20th/21st

1890 925100

www.ticketmaster.ie

With his career firmly on the up, David Gray plays three nights under stars at Smithfield. His album, White Ladder, is now the fourth biggest-selling album in Irish recorded history, and he's not doing too bad in the UK and America either.

Andrea Bocelli

1890-925100

www.ticketmaster.ie

The blind boy from Tuscany is one of Italy's finest tenors, ranked alongside Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras. Bocelli's sharp pop instinct has gained him chart success, most notably his duet with Sarah Brightman, Time To Say Goodbye.

Van Morrison

Smithfield, Dublin - July 22nd

1890-925100

www.ticketmaster.ie

Van The Man trades his usual wares at the former marketplace: jazz, soul, rhythm 'n' blues, skiffle and some potted herrings in case we get famished. There's added country flavour from Linda Gail Lewis, and some vintage bluesology from John Mayall.

Sting

Smithfield, Dublin - July 25th

1890-925100

www.ticketmaster.ie

Summer in Smithfield continues with a show from the former Police-dude, with support from legendary axeman, Jeff Beck.

Witnness

Fairyhouse Racecourse - August 4th-5th

1890-925100

www.ticketmaster.ie

Last year's Witness festival, held on the August bank holiday weekend and featuring almost a fine line-up of acts on six different stages, was a roaring success, so this year's Guinness-sponsored extravaganza will be eagerly awaited. No line-up has been announced as yet, though it's pretty certain that Stereophonics will be putting in a headline appearance.

U2

Slane Castle, Co Meath - August 25th

1890-925100

www.ticketmaster.ie

The hottest gig of 2001 sold out in 45 minutes, and many fans who had queued all night for tickets went home empty-handed. U2's Elevation world tour, which kicked off in Miami, Florida, last February, fetches up on Lord Mount Charles's lawn, with support from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Kelis, JJ72 and Relish. For fans who missed out on tickets, there are moves to stage "Slane 2" by the Boyne a week later.
