ALPHA is all exciting sounding hands on print project for four to 12 year olds at the Ark in Temple Bar. Running during school time and during holiday periods until January, Alpha introduces children to some of the basic principles of print making. Simon Spain, the Ark's current artist in residence, is well known for his innovative work with children in the medium of print. From England, Spain has worked as far afield as Sweden and the US.
Children will make large scale letters and alphabets, and work in silk screen and other print media to create a large installation in the gallery of the Ark. The installation is intended to be a kind of cityscape of letters, words and images.
On Saturdays there will be sessions for children of all ages, including special Saturday morning sessions for four to six year olds, accompanied by their parent(s). There will also be group sessions for schools and a series of workshops for primary school teachers. To book, tel: 01-6707788.
