The seven-year itch has taken hold of Fiach Mac Conghail, artistic director of Project Arts Centre since 1992, who will not be renewing his contract at the end of the year. The position will be advertised "imminently", he says and the new appointment will be made in October, to allow for a hand-over period. Speculation about his successor, who will preside over the expanded Project, tends to throw up a select list - of two: Bedrock's director, Jimmy Fay and Dublin Fringe Festival's director, Ali Curran. There are other names, of course, which we could hurl into the pot, including Jason Byrne, currently assistant director at the Abbey, and Rough Magic's Lynne Parker. Perhaps John Crowley could be enticed back from London?
