SOME rare pieces of Cork silverare to be sold next Wednesday at a sale of Irish and English silver and jewellery at Woodwards in Cork. The finest item on offer is an intricately decorated baluster shaped coffee pot by John Nicholson, dating from about 1770. It could make up, to £7,000.

Other Cork pieces include a William and Mary tankard by Robert Goble, c1700, a George III helmet-shaped cream jug by Jane Williams and Carden Terry, 1806, a bright cut George III soup ladle by John Warner, c1785, and a George III sauce boat by John and Samuel Nicholson, c1780.
