Temple Bar is not just for tourists and hen parties – that’s the message that the Made in Temple Bar festival aims to emphasise.

The area will live up to its designation as the city’s cultural quarter from July 15th to 24th, when more than 70 events will take place across its cobbled streets. It also marks the 20th anniversary of the Temple Bar Cultural Trust.

Of course, given Temple Bar’s history, there will be plenty of music on offer, with many of the gigs free to attend. The Jimmy Rig Slip Jig Workshop, an exercise in “musical architecture”, takes place in Exchange Dublin from Monday, July 18th, to Wednesday, July 20th. Sounds on the Square pays tribute to the area’s busking heritage, with performances by Ryan Sheridan, Vertigo Smyth, We Cut Corners and more from 1pm at Temple Bar Square on July 24th.

Some more high-profile ticketed gigs booked by promoters Choice Cuts will also take place at The Button Factory, including a late night show by former Jurassic 5 man Cut Chemist (July 15th) and a double bill of De La Soul and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (July 22nd). templebar.ie
