NITIN SAWHNEY
All Mixed Up V2
***
The remix lark works both ways. While the ever-prolific Nitin Sawhney has done his fair share of tinkering about with the music of other acts (most notably, a fine rebooting of The Fireman, Paul McCartney's ambient alter-ego), it's other names who are making the headlines here with Sawhney's material. All Mixed Up features a round-dozen Sawhney tracks from the back-pages, mostly from the well-received Prophesy and Human releases of recent years, which are given new leases of life by some of the more accomplished and far-thinking remixers in the game. While there's surprisingly little new ground broken, there's enough juice flowing to suggest that Atjazz, Joe Clausell, London Elektricity and Quantic didn't simply regard this gig as another day at the office. For another side, there's a bonus CD featuring Sawhney's own rejigs and reworkings. www.nitinsawhney.com
