To say that Robert Hood has played a part in mapping electronic music's direction is a bit of an understatement. From his early days alongide Mike Banks and Jeff Mills at Underground Resistance through to his own classics such as Minimal Nation, Nighttime Worldand last year's Fabric 39mix, the Detroit native has always been a leader, not a follower.

Through releases on his own M-Plant imprint and other labels, Hood has consistently perfected a highly sophisticated, accomplished soulful tech sound over the years without losing sight of the bigger picture. Moreover, the minimal techno cuts from the Detroit second-wave luminary have provided other electronic music-makers with hypnotic, streamlined blueprints to cog.

Others may have taken the applause, but Hood has concentrated on the work. Club-goers should also check out Hood’s limited-edition Deep Concentration: Grey Area mix-CD which will be on sale at both shows.
