Romanthony: R. Hide In Plain Site (Glasgow Underground)
Romanthony may have thrown any semblance of syntax out the window when it came to naming this album; but be thankful that he didn't abandon the funk. DJ, producer and artist, Romanthony is house music's hardest-working soul, working up a sweat in an apparently driven attempt to determine and define his own unique style. If you've swooned to the gorgeous garage lick of Hold On on Roule, these 11 cuts will make your day, and hopefully your night too. Wreck and Down 4 U revisit those sexy Prince tones of old, while Floorpiece and Luv Somebody show why the likes of Daft Punk get excited about the work of the New Jersey maverick. Old school sensations; new school sounds.

Aqua: Aquarius (Universal)
IF you're looking for some nice, stale Danish blue cheese, then dip your 10-foot-bargepole into this second album by the aquatic emperors of Europop. Aqua were responsible for the immortal Barbie Doll, arguably the cheesiest tune of the 1990s, but though their second album contains the requisite Camembert quotient, there's nothing here which stinks quite as heavenly as their debut hit. Mind you, Cartoon Heroes comes close, being a near-perfect pap anthem for this two-dimensional group. Lene's voice is pitched up to helium height - perfect for five-year-olds to sing along to - while Rene is surely the Scandinavian son of that guy who sang on Boney M's hits. The Vengaboys must be quaking in their keks.
