JAY-Z
No Sleep Till Brooklyn
*****
Jay-Z's latest single, DOA( Death of Autotune), is an all-out assault on autotune: some ironic, given that producer Kanye West did more than anyone to popularise pitch-correction technology. Still, there's no doubting the Rock-a- Fella rapper's class. Stepping in to replace The Beastie Boys at the All Points Festival in New Jersey this month, Jay-Z paid tribute to Adam Yauch with this blistering version of the classic track from the Licenced to Illalbum. www.youtube.com
VOLCANO CHOIR

Jagjaguwar
****
Bon Iver mainman Justin Vernon joins forces with succinctly monikered Milwaulkee instrumentalists Collections of Colonies of Bees on this number from the forthcoming Unmap album, which was recorded prior to the release of his acclaimed For Emma, Forever Ago.
DOLLY ROCKERS
Gold Digger
Parlophone
***
After the surprise success of their Je Suis Une Dollysingle, the former X-Factor rejects are back with more faux-chav hi-jinks.
RADIOHEAD
Harry Patch (In Memory Of)
***
Are Radiohead slowly becoming Britain's unofficial alt.rock poets laureate? Harry Patch (In Memory Of)commemorates the passing of the last veteran of the first World War. As tastefully executed as the track is (proceeds go to the British Legion), one might query how potent a metaphor for the destructive power of war is a man who survived the trenches more than 90 years ago. download. waste.uk.com
LILY ALLEN
22
Parlophone
**
There’s a lot to like about Lily Allen. But it grates slightly that she apparently feels obligated to tackle “issues” (with varying degrees of insight) on virtually every track she records. Here, Allen dissects society’s attitudes towards single women who find themselves no longer in the first flush of youth. By “society”, she actually means vacuous women’s magazines. (Also, if you’ve seen the video, why are there urinals in the ladies toilets? Anyone?)
