Several independent music festivals have announced their line-ups over the past week, putting paid to the notion that the credit crunch is impeding the smaller entertainment celebrations in Ireland this summer.

The annual Le Chéile Arts Music festival, which takes place in Oldcastle,

Co Meath, will play host to a number of Irish musicians, bands and comedians from July 28th to August 2nd. Lisa Hannigan, Mundy, Delorentos, Adebisi Shank, Heritage Centre and Jason Byrne are amongst the artists taking part (www.lecheile.com).

Northern Ireland’s Glasgowbury Festival will also return on July 25th, and will see acts such as And So I Watch You From Afar, In Case of Fire, The Jane Bradfords, Fighting With Wire, Cashier No. 9 and General Fiasco play in Draperstown, Co Derry (www.glasgowbury.com).
