After last year's taut scores for Wantedand Hellboy II, a minimalist one for Standard Operating Procedureand an elegiac one for Milk, Danny Elfman kicks some serious action butt with Terminator Salvation. Deftly acknowledging Brad Fidel's solemn theme from The Terminator, Elfman creates a broodingly dynamic score with bold colours and charged drama that combines strong melodies and driving polyrhythms with churning electronica, spare orchestration and warm instrumentation (acoustic guitar, elegiac horns, surging strings).
