This excellent Irish band have been hard at work over the past few years, and they’re now at the point where new material from their forthcoming album is stamping its feet impatiently in the wings. 2015 is theirs for the taking – just you wait and see. And do we need to reference the venue’s special atmosphere once again? TCL

Brazilian music is a vast and turbulent ocean rarely traversed by Anglophones. Then again, the superb Metá Metá (above) hail from São Paolo, which alone has a population of more than 12 million, so they don’t exactly need to tour in search of an audience. Psychedelic samba, Afrobeat, punk rock and free jazz all resonate in the music of three of São Paolo’s most innovative musicians, underpinned by the folkloric tradition of the Afro-Brazilian religion Candomblé.
