Pugnacious Michael Moore, who won the 2004 Palme d'Or for Fahrenheit 9/11, is back at Cannes for tomorrow's world premiere of his latest documentary, Sicko, which takes on the US health care system.
Not unusually for a Moore movie, Sicko is preceded by controversy: the US Treasury Department is investigating whether Moore broke a federal travel ban to Cuba by taking some 9/11 rescue workers there for medical treatment for a segment in Sicko.
Harvey Weinstein, who is releasing Sicko in the US at the end of June, believes it will not be as controversial as Fahreheit 9/11. "I've seen this movie with Republicans and Democrats, and this is one time Michael has sort of unified everyone," he said. "But the healthcare industry won't have a very good July 4th."
