Joe Higgins is standing for the Socialist Party to give people an opportunity to vote on the following:
rejection of corruption in politics and big business;
a referendum on the NATO led Partnership for Peace. Opposition to PfP and to any military alliance dominated by the armaments industry;
opposition to the privatisation of Aer Lingus, Aer Rianta and other semi-State companies;
protection of our natural ecosystems. A Europe wide ban on genetic engineering of plants and vegetables;
comprehensive health care for all;
outlaw speculation in building land and profiteering in housing;
major investment in public transport;
a democratic socialist confederation of European states based on human need and happiness above corporate greed;
if elected Joe Higgins will be a representative for ordinary working people and will live on the average industrial wage with all surplus monies donated to the fight for a new society.
