Theresa O'Donohoe's gripe is the state of our cycle tracks. Instead of good-quality cycling tarmac, our cycle lanes are being "painted" red.
I'm not sure whether the local councils are aware of the fact that this red powder does not actually fill the holes, level the bumps or help tyres grip the road.
In fact, I doubt it will last until the end of the winter - the rain will probably wash it away.
I also believe our national driving test should involve a six-month compulsory cycling period. It's only when you understand the wobbles caused by the lumps of dried concrete, the drain grids, the broken glass, rain on your tyres, the inability to stop in one second flat, sleepwalking pedestrians, fumigating motorbikes unlawfully on the cycle track, sloping gutters, potholes, the wind in your wheels, drooping branches, drive-by flooding, bus sandwiches, litter in your mechanisms, wing mirrors and many other obstructions that you can safely say you can cope on the road with cyclists.
