GREG DOWNEY "Live As . . ." Supreme ***

Belfast DJ Greg Downey's CV features all the names you'd expect to see namechecked by a rising young trancer.

From Gatecrasher, Space and Godskitchen to the patronage of leading lights John Digweed, Eddie Halliwell and Paul van Dyk, Downey has packed a lot into his six years jocking home and away.

"Live As . . .", recorded at 2007's Planetlove festival in Co Antrim, is Downey's debut live mix release and a fine guide to his taste in trancey and big-room sounds.

You get a flavour of Downey's own productions (Once Again), his choice in battle weapons (the riotous electro meltdown of Ronski Speed's Soul Seeker) and an indication of what the young Northerner can do on the remix tip (Bedrock's Heaven Scent).

As calling cards go, it's one Downey will be using for some time to come. www.myspace.com/gregdowney - JIM CARROLL
