“What is covfefe, precious?” - Gollum reads Trump tweets

Andy Serkis returned to his most famous role and the results were creepy to say the least

On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host asked the Lord of the Rings actor to read a few of the President's tweets in the style of Serkis's character from the franchise, Gollum. Video: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

It's well known that US chat show host Stephen Colbert is a huge Lord of the Rings fan (he even made a brief cameo in The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug), so when Andy Serkis showed up on The Late Show this week, it was inevitable that Colbert would turn the conversation to his most famous motion-capture creation, Gollum/Smeagol.

Serkis was there to promote War for the Planet of the Apes, but when Colbert suggested he offer a reading of some of Donald Trump's tweets, he seemed excited to  step back into the role that made him famous.

Right on cue, Serkis hopped up onto his chair, took on the poise and posture of Gollum and proceeded to read some precious Trump tweets.

“The fake news media has never been so wrong or so dirty,” Serkis-as-Gollum rasped enthusiastically. “Purposely incorrect stories and phony sources to meet their agenda of hate. Sad.”
