DENIS Drum of Malahide reports a lively response to the auction conducted on his premises last month, with the finest of the three Victorian book cases selling for £1,375. This has a pull out pigeon holed secretaire inset, while a two door bookcase with arched, glazed doors made £975 and the simplest designed of the three, £700.
A set of 13 Victorian oak dining chairs made £915 and a mahogany dining table £600. A Georgian tray back side table went for £700 (less than its presale estimate of £800-£1,000), the same price as a single door walnut and satinwood cabinet, and a Victorian show frame cabriolelegged settee fetched £550. Finally, a pair of girondole gilded mirrors with gesso rope decoration sold after auction for the top estimate of £1,500.
