Cellist Vyvienne Long might have an academic background in classical music – she obtained her degree in Dublin’s College of Music, and then travelled to Barcelona’s Escola de Musica for her Masters – but she has been involved in rock music for so long that revisiting previous work in orchestras might be a thing of the past.

She first came to notice as a member of Damien Rice's band – and via her cover of The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army– but has broadened her creative remit and has already released a critically acclaimed mini-album. 2007's Birdtalkwill shortly be followed by Long's full-length debut album, wherein she will develop even further her links between the rock and classical worlds.
