Ganesh Versus the Third Reich

The delicately considered Australian company Back to Back, who visited Dublin before with the excellent small metal objects, return with this lauded piece. On one level it's the story of Hindu god Ganesh trying to reclaim the Swastika from the Nazis. On another it's a group of performers with intellectual disabilities arguing over the right to represent that story. On all levels, it's captivating and provocatively told.

Elaine Byrne continues her exploration of early 20th- century utopian architectural ideas, expanding on the theories of Friedrick Kiesler, an iconoclastic . . . what, exactly? It's not clear: architect, designer, artist, theatre designer and perhaps more. Kiesler questioned everything. That's the easy part, of course, but he went on to come up with his own ideas of how we might shape the world me live in, a kind of surrealism meets architecture. And that's where Byrne's work kicks off.
