THERE will be an opportunity next Thursday to welcome Jonathan Voak, newly-appointed director of Limerick's Hunt Museum, when he gives a talk at the city's university.
This is the last in the Friends of the Hunt Museum's present series of illustrated lectures and provides Jonathan Voak with a platform to speak of his previous work.
Formerly with the Victoria and' Albert Museum, Jonathan Voak was curator at Apsley House, thy Duke of Wellington's London residence, on the corner of Hyde Park. This reopened to the public last summer after undergoing a £6.3 million refurbishment.
In his talk, the Hunt Museum's new director will discuss Apsley House's renovation programme and the Duke of Wellington's collection, putting these in the context of the current work at Limerick's Custom House. Succeeding Mairead Dunleavy, who has now returned to the National Museum in Dublin, Jonathan Voak only officially takes up his new post next Monday, making this talk his first public function.
Thursday's event takes place at 8 p.m. in the Schuman Building, University of Limerick. While admission is free for Friends of the Hunt Museum, there is a charge of £3 for the public (£1 for old age pensioners and students).
