Every little thing Julio Bashmore (above) does is magic. His run of majestic dancefloor tracks, such as the anthemic Battle for Middle You, Au Seve and Rhythm Of Auld, have marked him down as one to watch. Add in production work with Jessie Ware and you can see why hopes are high for Bashmore's upcoming debut album. This, no doubt, will not be his only Irish appearance in 2015.

Dublin's post-Christmas jazz drought ends in a downpour tonight with the launch of two new pocket concert series championing fresh creative music. The Trio Trio Piano Series from Jazz on the Terrace puts new acoustic piano trios led by Leopoldo Oslo and Cian Boylan on the stage at the Bello Bar. In the Wellington, mean- while, composer Dylan Rynhart inaugurates his monthly "Listen" series with an eclectic programme that includes Clang Sayne, pianist Izumi Kimura and the long-awaited re-emergence of Rynhart's own groundbreaking Fuzzy Logic Ensemble. As they say, decisions, decisions.

Dublin piper Paddy Keenan brings an angularity and poise to the instrument, unmatched by anyone else. As a veteran of The Bothy Band and a lifelong free thinker, Keenan's live performances are something special. In Killarney, tonight's headlining concert, "A Stór Mo Chroí", features Pauline Scanlon, Eilís Ní Chinnéide, John Spillane, Donogh Hennessy, John McSharry and others. Songs reign supreme for the featured performers in this weekend-long festival.
