What’s on Saturday: April Jazz and Colin Stetson & Sarah Neufeld

APRIL JAZZ

National Concert Hall, also Friday & Sunday
nch.ie

It’s a busy week for jazz, starting Friday with a brand new festival courtesy of Note Productions and the National Concert Hall. The starry line-up includes heavyweight international acts such as Polish trumpet master Tomasz Stanko (Friday at 8pm with support from the Sue Rynhart Duo) and Tunisian oud virtuoso Anouar Brahem (Saturday at 8pm with support from Sean MacErlaine). Starriest of all will be influential piano trio The Bad Plus (Sunday at 8pm with support from OKO) re-examining the work of Ornette Coleman with an augmented line-up that includes saxophonist Tim Berne and trumpeter Ron Miles. And a weekend ticket for all three 8pm gigs is €75, very reasonable considering the level of artistry that wil be on show.
