“Do unto my writing as I have done unto the writing of others,”
commands Charles Mee’s Golden Rule. In other words, thou shalt covet, thou shalt steal, and thou shalt most certainly adulterate. The US playwright has created engaging composite plays this way, constructed from Greek and Shakespearean classics, found texts and his own writing. Here he serves as the inspiration for Conflicted Theatre’s adventurous piece of bricolage dinner theatre. In a private dining club, a small audience get to know guests invited by Salomé (the hostess with the most heads), while splintered Mee plays serve up anger, provocation and ungovernable love over a specially designed tasting menu. It may be an acquired taste, but certainly worth digesting.
