There will always be a place for Mark Olsen in the pantheon of landmark Americana song- writers. The founding member of The Jayhawks has forged a successful solo career since the demise of that remarkable band, but perhaps not as timeless a batch of songs. That said, if you’re after crafted songs of the alt.country persuasion, you needn’t look too far.

Irish gigs from this Canadian record producer (Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Emmylou Harris and U2, among many) and occasional solo artist are rare, but they are always worth a detour if only for the way Lanois makes a guitar sound like no other you’ve heard.

It turns out that Disclosure are bang on the money when it comes to signing acts for their new record label. Swedish producer Jonas Rathsman recently got the Lawrence brothers' Method White label underway with Wolfsbane. The profile of the Gothenburg DJ and producer has been on the rise, with releases such as Feel What I Feel, Bringing You Down and Hope I'm Wrong gaining thumbs-up all round. (His remix of Sam Smith's Like I Can was also well received.) Support from Graham Doc, with Anthony Collins in the Garden and the Bap to the Future DJs in the Factory.
